Matosinhos em Jazz

The Matosinhos Jazz Festival returned in 2026 for another edition during the month of July, featuring outdoor concerts at the Basílio Teles Garden Bandstand in Matosinhos. The program once again focused on bringing together different generations, regions, and styles of jazz, with free admission.

The 2026 edition featured artists such as Theo Croker, Nubya Garcia, the Moses Yoofee Trio, Lakecia Benjamin, Gabi Hartmann, and the Máximo Trio, who performed at the bandstand throughout the weekends in July, always at 6 p.m.

The program also extended to other venues and events, notably the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra & Cristina Branco, who performed on July 23 at Guilhermina Suggia Square, and Jazz Nómada, a collaboration between the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra and Oboa Nomade, on July 24. Both concerts offered free admission.

Throughout July, the festival also featured an exhibition at Jardim Basílio Teles, which invited Portuguese artists from various fields to reinterpret iconic album covers from jazz history. In 2026, the exhibition brought together works by Wasted Rita, Susa Monteiro, Inês Marques Lucas, Filipa Beleza, and Maria Imaginário, in a project that blended music, illustration, and the visual arts.

Over the years, Matosinhos em Jazz has established itself as one of Portugal’s leading outdoor jazz festivals, bringing together national and international artists and bringing jazz closer to public spaces and the community.
